I just read Back1's most recent article about whether you should rest or work with lower back pain.

"Guidelines for clinical management of patients with low back pain (LBP) encourage health care practitioners to advise staying active and returning to work. Despite this, most practitioners believe work factors can cause or exacerbate LBP, and a recommendation for a "short break from work to allow healing is common."

I feel like both sides of this are right. Lying down for days or sitting around watching TV is unlikely to help ease your lower back pain, but sitting in a desk for hours on end is absolutely one of the worst things for your back. The best solution is neither of these. Rather, people should take a couple of days off of work in order to NOT rest. They should walk, do yoga, stretch, and be gently active. This is the best way to ease back pain.

What do you guys think? What would you recommend for sufferers of lower back pain?
